Our research focuses on generating scientific evidence to inform conservation strategies and environmental decision-making and policy making in tropical regions. For this, we adopt multiple and transdisciplinary approaches. My FLF focuses on understanding the drivers and consequences of insect biodiversity changes across pantropical forests in Ghana, Malaysia and the Brazilian Amazon. We integrate knowledge from ecology, chemistry, and genetics to investigate changes insect communities. We also work closely with decision-makers and policymakers in Amazonia and Ghana, to (i) ensure our project is aligned with local needs, (ii) build a working group focused on co-designing recommendations for conservation and restoration strategies.

Other research projects in our team brings together educators, social scientists, psychologists, computer scientists, and social anthropologists to (i) investigate human-nature relationships in local traditional communities (Indigenous, Quilombolas, Riverside, and rubber-tapper people); and (ii) co-design tools integrating innovative and ancestral technologies to monitor Amazonian sociobiodiversity.
