I am passionate about science and technology, and enjoy seeing how new product ideas address target user needs, I often tinker with electronics and software outside of work as a hobby and have carried out many projects purely out of interest. I am passionate about leadership and the many forms it can take and have a keen interest in understanding what makes people successful and how they can influence others in a positive way. I am also passionate about sports, football and cricket in particular. I am a qualified FA level 1 football coach and have a grassroots team that I lead. I hope to further my education in this space in the coming years. As a result of my scientific background I read a lot on the history of tactical and player development in football and like to think about to translate some of the more complicated themes into understandable insight for young developing players.

Project Title
Human-Centred Future Mobility Innovation - New horizons for optimised Human Behaviour in Autonomous, Connected, Electrified, and Shared vehicleProject Summary
My research primarily helps with the understanding human behaviour with technology. This can include theoretical work to establish fundamental principles of design through to larger scale naturalistic testing where controllability is challenging but the richness of the data is very high. I try to take a thorough approach to measuring performance and preference for different interactions and find that these two very different areas of science often conflict. I look at basic interaction technologies and how they function, the implications and characteristics of how the technology impacts the human and therefore how this translates to a very challenging multi-dimensional environment such as driving. I have a special interest in the cognitive aspects of interface systems, the transfer of information between the human and the machine and in particular Attention Management which is a topic of great importance that has emerged over the last 5-10 years. Attention management is how a driver copes with complexity whilst driving, how successful they are at shifting their attention between competing goals in the highly dynamic, safety critical vehicle environment. There is a lot to learn about how users shift attention, the processes behind what makes user shift attention and understand the vast variability that is evident.
